Hypnotic Regression – Access Past Memories

About regression

What does regression mean? What is regression?

Also known as "First Cause Therapy", this is a therapy technique that involves, metaphorically speaking, a journey into the personal past with the aim of exploring and better understanding the causes of emotional blockages, behavioral patterns, emotional wounds or even illnesses.

This journey can take you to childhood memories, to moments that are meaningful to you, to the womb, or to your past lives.

The concept of past lives dates back to ancient times. The Egyptians believed in a cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Philosophers such as Pythagoras and Plato developed theories about reincarnation and the Universe.

Who outlined the regression technique?

Who outlined the regression technique?

Known for this technique is Brian Weiss, a renowned American psychiatrist and director of the psychiatry department at the Miami, Florida hospital. He has written extensively on hypnotic regression and reincarnation. He was a doctor trained in conventional psychiatry, but everything took a positive turn after a revealing experience with a patient named Catherine, who plays the central role and who triggered the shift from traditional psychiatry to the exploration of reincarnation and regression into past lives, which he talks about in one of his books “Many Lives, Many Masters”.

Catherine was a woman who came to Brian for therapy in the 1980s. She was a lab technician at the same hospital as Weiss and suffered from a series of severe psychological problems, panic attacks, anxiety, phobias, and recurring nightmares.

Weiss applied conventional psychiatric methods to this end, but even after a year of treatment, these had not improved the patient's condition. Brian decided to try hypnosis in the hope that it would reveal hidden childhood trauma.

During a hypnosis session, Catherine began to describe experiences from other historical eras and places she had no knowledge of. These images seemed to provide an explanation for some of her current phobias and traumas.

In one of her past lives she described being a woman who had lived thousands of years ago in a region that had been devastated by floods which was associated with her immense fear of water.

In other sessions, she described numerous other lives in which she had been a slave in Egypt or starved to death in the Middle Ages. What is interesting is the accuracy of the specific details about places and historical periods that theoretically she would have no way of knowing.

Another interesting and consecrating part of Catherine's experience was a session in which she came into contact with "The Masters," spirit guides who gave her personal information about Weiss's life, including details about her deceased son and father, information that she had no way of knowing.

In light of these experiences with Catherine, Weiss, a psychiatrist trained strictly in medical science with no interest in the paranormal or spirituality, began to question conventional beliefs and treatment methods. He began to embrace the idea that past-life regressions could have therapeutic value and that past-life memories could explain some emotional trauma that had no explanation in the present life.

Catherine was cured of her panic attacks and severe anxiety and her life improved considerably.

Although conventional psychiatry and psychology believe that there is not enough scientific evidence to support the past life hypothesis, many patients have reported significant benefits from Regression.

How is the Regression technique applied?

How to apply the Regression technique

This technique is applied under hypnosis, an altered state of consciousness characterized by a state of deep relaxation and intense concentration.

The first step is hypnotic induction. To begin the regression, the therapist induces a state of hypnosis, which involves guiding the patient into a state of deep relaxation. The hypnotic state is a form of trance, similar to a dream state or deep meditation, in which the conscious mind becomes less active and the subconscious mind is more open and receptive.

For this stage, several methods can be applied, such as: through breathing, through progressive relaxation of each part of the body, through visualization of a beautiful place that brings peace such as a forest, a beach or a room, or through soothing verbal suggestions.

Once the patient is in a deep state of hypnosis, the therapist begins the regression process. The goal is to access memories that are stored in the subconscious and that may be related to past traumas or experiences that are influencing the present life. In regular hypnotic regression, this may include memories from childhood, but in past life regression, the patient may access experiences from other eras or identities.

The therapist will ask questions to help the client "travel" such as: "Where are you and what is happening?", "Describe what you see or feel.", "Let's now return to the moment when this fear arose.".

These questions are intended to help both the client and the therapist understand what the client is feeling and what they have interpreted.

In some cases, these memories can come on their own without the need for a therapist's intervention. They can be images that seem to come from the imagination, they can be sensations of deja-vu, or even long-forgotten childhood memories, but the therapist's intervention is necessary to heal them.

What happens if the therapist is not prepared for regression?

The training for this technique is a long one that requires a lot of study. Some trainers teach this technique in 6 months, others in 3 years and through this you can realize for yourself the accuracy, quality and quantity of the information but not only that but also the level of practice that this budding therapist has gone through.

Some time ago I did some therapy sessions with a friend who had just finished this training. After some time I did some guided readings that I found online. The problem, let's put it this way, was that the theme I wanted to heal through those sessions wasn't improving.

When I started therapy with my current therapist, with solid training and 17 years of experience in regression, I told him about previous sessions I had done alone or with my friend.

I had so many open issues that they all left their mark on my present and I couldn't bear them anymore, the emotions were overwhelming, the events were unpleasant and challenging.

In the first few sessions I needed to close and heal those themes in order to move on to the next ones, so my advice, from my experience, would be to not try this on your own at home, haha.

What do you need to know before doing a regression?

What you need to know before doing a regression

The first thing I do is get to know the therapist and he/she gets to know me, so in the first session or the first two, three sessions we build trust. I ask him/her what I want to know, about his/her training, about his/her years of experience, or about him/her as a person if he/she is okay and vice versa.

Why is this an important step? Whether you choose a therapist to work with for regressions, hypnosis, or any other type of therapy, without this step of building trust you will not be able to heal because you will not be able to open your soul to them to say what hurts you.

Another important thing for me is to resonate with my therapist.

We all choose the people we let into our lives, mentally, emotionally, and even chemically. We all have chemistry with the people around us, otherwise we wouldn't be close. We're not talking about romantic chemistry, we're talking about platonic chemistry. So if I don't feel like going to a therapist or I don't trust them, no matter how successful they are, I won't go, because my instincts know better.

I choose the time frame I feel ready to work in. I don't let the therapist choose my sessions. For example, "we meet once a week," no, I will request a session when I feel I need it.

During regression, you don't lose control. Perhaps most people when they hear about hypnosis or regression think that you sit there, the therapist makes you a puppet and you don't know anything about what happened. Completely false!

You are completely present in your mind and body, you hear what is happening around you, you feel sensations in your body, but the focus is very much on what your mind and soul are showing you. To describe the experience a little, it is like watching a movie, or rather the movie of a memory from the past.

It's an experience that absorbs you but holds you back, you don't lose control. For those who have this need at high altitudes.

After the session, don't stir up and don't try to separate the thread into pieces about what happened there. For a few days, do the things you like and let what you worked on integrate inside you. Don't start talking to friends or relatives about what you saw or felt, why? Talking about the experience is like reliving it, which means you're reopening the topic and it will be as if you hadn't worked on it, so I advise you not to waste a session in vain next time.

The Benefits of Exploring Past Lives Through Regression

🌿 1. Healing trauma and unexplained fears

Many seemingly unexplained fears, phobias, or anxieties can originate from a past experience. Through regression, you can uncover and release old traumas, leading to a state of inner peace and emotional clarity.

???? Example: A person with an unexplained fear of water may discover, through regression, that they drowned in a past life. Once they become aware of the source of the fear, it may disappear or be significantly diminished.

💜 2. Understanding karmic relationships

Exploring past lives can give you new insight into important relationships in your current life. You may discover that you have met certain souls in past lives, in different contexts.

How does it help you?

  • You better understand the dynamics of your relationships (for example, connections with parents, partner, or friends).
  • You can learn karmic lessons from toxic or difficult relationships.
  • You can identify soulmates and deep spiritual connections.

???? Example: A person who has a strained relationship with a parent may discover that in a previous life the roles were reversed, and that experience still influences the present interaction.

🌟 3. Developing wisdom and self-knowledge

Exploring past lives gives you a deeper understanding of who you truly are. You can discover qualities, talents, and lessons learned throughout your existences.

Benefits:

  • Increasing self-awareness and the meaning of life.
  • Understanding your spiritual mission.
  • Accepting the past and living more authentically in the present.

???? Example: Someone who has an inexplicable attraction to a particular culture or historical era may discover that they lived there in a previous life and that that experience still influences their preferences.

🔄 4. Releasing emotional and energetic blockages

Unprocessed memories from past lives can create blockages in the current life. Regression can bring these blockages to the surface and release them, allowing a freer flow of vital energy.

???? Example: A person who constantly feels an unexplained pressure on their throat may discover that in a past life they were strangled or had a traumatic experience related to their voice. Once this is realized, the feeling may dissolve.

🧘‍♂️ 5. Amplifying intuition and spiritual connection

When you access past lives, you open your mind and soul to deeper dimensions of your consciousness. This process can enhance your ability to perceive intuitive messages and have a clearer connection with spirit guides.

Benefits:

  • Improving the ability to make decisions based on intuition.
  • Increasing connection with the Universe and spirit guides.
  • Clarity on your soul's mission.

🌍 6. Developing compassion and understanding towards others

When you see life from multiple perspectives, you can more easily understand why people act the way they do. This can increase your empathy and compassion, helping you to forgive more easily and be more tolerant.

???? Example: If you were a victim in a past life and an aggressor in another, this realization can help you understand karmic lessons and break negative cycles.

⏳ 7. Identifying gifts and talents from past lives

Many of the passions, skills, and talents you have now may have roots in past lives. Exploring these memories can help you better realize your potential.

How does it help you?

  • It can inspire you to follow your soul's calling.
  • You can access latent abilities and knowledge gained in other lives.
  • It can give you clarity on your professional or creative path.

???? Example: A talented musician may discover that he was a famous composer in a previous life, and this can give him more confidence in his current abilities.

🌠 8. Overcoming the fear of death and understanding the cycle of life

One of the most powerful benefits of regression is that it helps you understand that death is not an end, but merely a transition. This can bring immense inner peace and reduce the fear of the unknown.

Benefits:

  • Greater acceptance of changes and transitions in life.
  • A more relaxed attitude towards death and loss.
  • A deeper sense of connection with your eternal soul.

My most recent past life regression experience

A month ago I also did a regression on a topic that was giving me some trouble. I tried different methods to heal it but nothing helped. I had a problem with the way I expressed my anger. It wasn't the anger that was the problem, it's a feeling like any other, but the fact that it took over me and I would explode.

I started the session and in short, I invited her to a table, I waited for her with tea, biscuits, sweets in a beautiful and peaceful environment, in the room of my mind. I asked her what she wanted or needed, but she didn't seem too eager to talk, but she was eager to show me, and I let her.

He took me to a plain and I saw a beautiful, red-haired woman with long, curly hair, but something was wrong with her, and that "she" was actually me, in a fairly distant past.

I went back a few moments ago, with the help of the therapist, and that woman was in a log cabin, where a fire was burning and she was holding a child in her arms, with her husband at the time. Everything seemed beautiful and seemed to be happiness, until it wasn't.

Something about that didn't please my husband at the time, so he took my child, stabbed me, and took me to that field where I had first visualized myself.

I should point out that I didn't feel any physical pain, because I was an observer, a witness to my own sadness at that time. I wasn't saddened by my own feelings, I was saddened by what I was seeing.

Left there in the field, that woman was overcome with anger, and not only anger but also flames. That's probably how I visualized it at that moment so I could understand how big the anger was, it doesn't really matter, I let it manifest and continue to show me.

I followed that woman until she arrived in the village, angry, furious, and desperate to find her child, but to no avail, so she set the entire village on fire in her wake. I know, not exactly a pleasant image, but that's what my mind was trying to visualize, and I trusted it.

After years of searching, the fire went out, and with it the woman's last heartbeat.

That was the regression, followed by the healing process, which each therapist does in their own way, but it's important to go through it.

After that regression and up until now, I've felt, I've experienced anger, and the things that used to make me "burn up" are now just a feeling that I manage and that passes like a wave breaking on shore.

I was amazed to see that after two years with all kinds of therapy It didn't work and it didn't get better, and after a regression it was cured!

And even though I was afraid to try something new, I'm so glad I did!

I am so glad I trusted, in the process, in myself, in my mind, and in my soul! He always knows, even if our minds may not, yet!

Conclusion

Past life regression is not only a fascinating experience, but a profound method of healing and self-discovery. Whether you want to better understand your relationships, release trauma, activate your soul gifts, or simply gain a clearer perspective on life, this technique can provide you with valuable answers.

My experience was transformative and healing, and if anyone ever asked me if this type of therapy was worth it, I would wholeheartedly say yes!

This one, like the others, has its magic, let it surround you and guide you and you will feel fantastic.

At least that's how it was for me.
